Design & Features
The Gamer GXiVR8080A38 is a no-nonsense PC. Its exterior alone screams “gamer,” meaning it’s a gaming machine through and through. It scores nearly full marks on aesthetics, and no, not just because of its charming ARGB – the exclusive Prism 321V case goes beyond just LEDs to provide a spacious chassis to work with should you decide to upgrade a few components here and there.
Well, regardless of whether you like the RGB galore, in this case, the whole package is drop-gorgeous. Its mid-tier chassis is all black with sharp edges, and the interior is spacious and very neatly arranged. The interior components are visible through a tempered glass side panel with the gorgeous 120mm RGB LEDS.
The front of the chassis has a CyberPowerPC logo in a raised glass casing; most of the glass is the same shadowy glass as the side panel, and part of the top panel is a dust filter with easy front access ports. While it’s gorgeously designed, the CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A38 really is huge. At 24.2 x 21.2 x 13.2 inches and weighing 42.5 pounds, it’s not easy to carry and does take up a lot of space.
As for ports…there’s a really impressive selection both at the top and back of the chassis: 5 x USB 3.1, 4 x USB 2.0, 1 x LAN 1G, and 1 x HDMI and 2 x DisplayPort on the RTX 4070 Super graphics card.
Gaming & Graphics Performance
Our CyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme VR has an Intel Core i9-14900KF processor (24 cores), an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Super (12GB), and 32GB of RAM (two 16GB sticks of DDR5 running in dual-channel) mode. Playing Cyberpunk 2077 at 3840 x 2160 at the Ray Tracing preset with DLSS frame generation, the Gamer Xtreme averages 76-87 fps indoors and low-90 outdoors. The game is highly playable, and it’s free of any noticeable lagging or performance spikes.
Cyberpunk 2077 presents the biggest challenge to gaming PCs due to its extensive use of high-res textures, long draw distances, and extreme ray tracing effects in the Ultra RT mode. Still, the Xtreme VR GXiVR8080A38 can exceed 60 fps at 1080p for both its average and minimum frame rates, even without utilizing DLSS. Bumping to 1440p at the same settings, the system remains steady, which is not possible with most midrange gaming PC in the market.
The Xtreme VR GXiVR8080A38 can take advantage of its CPU overclocking and upscaling technology to improve frame rates, and it supports DLSS 3.0, too. With the latter enabled, the GXiVR8080A38 can exceed an average of 100fps at 1080p Ultra and 71fps at 1440p, which are both fantastic results.
With excellent performance in Cyberpunk 2077, there’s no doubt that the CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A38 holds well in other games as well. Whether you’re gaming at 1080p or 1440p, the system performs well in Total War: Warhammer 3, maintaining 60fps and above at 1440p.
This means gamers could go for a 4K resolution on this system if they’re playing less graphically demanding games, or if they’re willing to tone down some settings or don’t mind playing a little under 60 fps. Most importantly, the performance from the GXiVR8080A38 is consistent, with just a few variances between games.
Finally, with an Intel Core i9-14900KF processor, 32GB of RAM, and a 2TB SSD, this is a balanced system for almost any kind of usage, including content creation, 3D modeling, and pretty everything else, though the storage drive may fill up quickly with too many games or raw videos. We’ve seen up to 4TB storage on top-tier gaming PCs like the, but you have some wiggle room to expand your storage and RAM if needed.
CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A38 Review: Verdict
CyberPowerPC has a winner with its Gamer Xtreme VR GXiVR8080A38 PC. The company made the price reasonable while delivering a system with an Intel Core i9-14900KF processor, 32GB DDR5 RAM, a 2TB PCIe Gen4 SSD, and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4070 Super graphics card. Performance numbers, both in gaming and productivity, put the system at par with its immediate competition, some costing much more, with just a few points separating them at 1440p.
The case is gorgeous, and it doesn’t cut corners with cheap plastic on the panels. We just wish it had more USB-C ports on the top and back, but with a standard case and motherboard, it’s easy for gamers to make meaningful upgrades down the road to boost performance.
And we can’t argue with its pricing, just under $2000 (can be had for less on a sale), makes the Gamer Xtreme cheaper than the Alienware Aurora R14 (AMD Ryzen 9 5900, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080) and the Skytech Blaze 4 (AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, RTX 4070 Ti Super). That savings can go towards additional RAM and maybe a larger SSD to make the CyberPowerPC Gamer GXiVR8080A38 an even more potent rig for pro-level gamers.
Overall, the Gamer GXiVR8080A38 provides excellent value and replaces the CyberPowerPC Gamer GXiVR8080A36 as our Editors’ Choice for midrange gaming desktops.
